Job Description
Job Title: Communications, Press & Marketing Director Category: Advertising/Marketing/Communications Location: New York Job Description: The William J. Clinton Foundation and The American Heart Association have formed the Alliance for a Healthier Generation to address the epidemic of childhood obesity in the United States. You can become a part of this exciting endeavor. The Alliance is looking for a candidate to become the Communications, Press & Marketing Director. The Alliance for a Healthier Generation's Communications, Press & Marketing Director will work as a member of the senior staff to create and implement communications, press and marketing plans for the Alliance and its programs. This person will be responsible for the development, implementation and coordination with the American Heart Association and William J. Clinton Foundation of all of the organization's marketing, communications, and public relations activities, both external and internal. The position reports to the Alliance's Executive Director. Other responsibilities include: -Oversee development and implementation of strategic and tactical communication plans for specific Alliance programs (schools, industry, healthcare and kids' movement) in coordination with Program Directors, American Heart Association and the Clinton Foundation; -Lead and coordinate the marketing and communication components of third party relationships including Rachael Ray, the NBA and Channel One; -Develop and manage additional relationships with media companies to reach parents and children with relevant Alliance messaging; -Lead and coordinate the writing, editing and design of all Alliance communication materials including quarterly newsletters, outreach materials, e-newsletters, published reports and printed materials; -Coordinate with the American Heart Association and Clinton Foundation all media relations and press related needs including planning, pitching, release writing and tracking media coverage; -Coordinate media interest in the Alliance and ensure regular contact with target media and appropriate response to media requests ' work with AHA and the Clinton Foundation to select appropriate spokespersons for various stories. ; -Work with the American Heart Association Communications Manager to coordinate local affiliate press activities; -Communicate regularly with AHA and CF communications staff to assure information on media contacts and potential media relations overlap is shared whenever appropriate. -Work with Web Manager to oversee web content and development of Alliance websites and Alliance content on Clinton Foundation and American Heart Association websites; -Assist with the development of celebrity relationships and spokespeople for the Alliance ' coordinate with AHA and CF on selection/recruitment of celebrities. ; -Act as a point person for all Alliance marketing, press and communications related requests from the American Heart Association and Clinton Foundation including providing content for Annual Reports and talking points for speeches; -Stay informed and update team on current events relating to childhood obesity and kids health through research and daily news searches; -Supervise communications/marketing team staff members, including a Web Manager and Graphic Designer; and -Supervise staff and interns who work on Alliance correspondence. Experience: Requirements: -10-15 years of experience in public relations, social marketing, advertising, or media relations -Sharp news sense and politically savvy -Extensive experience both writing and copy editing for a variety of diverse audiences -Positive, can-do team player brimming with ideas; proactive leader with courage to try new things -Creative ability with strong sense of design -Mature, credible, and comfortable in dealing with senior company executives -Excellent ability to prioritize, organize and manage details -Excellent written communication skills, with impeccable grammar and spelling -Ability to travel 30-50% of time
