SENIOR ACCOUNTANT, [ADMF-20]
ACLU Department of Administration & Finance
The American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU), a national not-for-profit public interest organization devoted to defense of the Bill of Rights is seeking applicants for fulltime Senior Accountant in its Accounting Department to work under direct supervision of Accounting Manager.
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Preparing, coding and entering accounting transactions;
* Processing invoices for payments;
* Preparing monthly income and expenditure statements and schedules;
* Preparing and distributing annual 1099 tax forms;
* Maintaining records for departments/projects, preparing necessary income and expense statements;
* Maintaining, reviewing and reconciling bank accounts;
* Responding to verbal and written general inquiries regarding accounts payable, accounts receivable and other accounting information;
* Preparing various schedules and spreadsheets as requested by Accounting Manager;
* Recording, analyzing and reconciling of credit card contributions;
* Reviewing and editing accounting entries before posting;
* Preparation of financial statements and bank reconciliations;
* Analyzing, reviewing and adjusting general ledger accounts;
* Special projects as assigned.
EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:
* Minimum seven years’ accounting experience, preferably with non-profits;
* Bachelors’ degree in Accounting;
* Strong organizational skills, excellent attention to details and ability to multitask;
* Demonstrated ability to work well with colleagues;
* Knowledge of Word, Excel and non-profit accounting software in Windows environment;
* Possessing initiative, ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines.
